The Streets Department is a part of Public Works. It provides and maintains 74.6 miles of quality streets and 63.4 miles of alleys for the public. The City monitors and repairs streets based on its annual comprehensive maintenance program, which includes evaluation of all City streets on a regular basis. Each year specific streets are indentified for repair based on budget constraints and the evaluation program. The department resurfaces about five miles of streets each year and repairs potholes and pavement failures when they occur.
