City Secretary/Finance Director


The City Secretary/Finance Director Office is located in City Hall at 612 Elm Street. Functioning much like the Secretary of State, the City Secretary/Municipal Clerk is the local official who maintains the integrity of the election process, ensures transparency and access to city records, facilitates the city’s legislative process, and is the recorder of local government history. The City Secretary acts as the compliance officer for federal, state, and local statutes, including the Open Meetings Act and the Public Information Act, and serves as the filing authority for campaign finance reports and financial disclosure statements.

Prior to serving as the City’s Chief Accountant for nearly two years, Sharon spent 19 years in the financial services industry. She holds a Master of Science Degree in Management and is a Desert Storm Veteran. Sharon is an active member of the Texas Municipal Clerks Association Red River Chapter and is working toward earning her Texas Municipal Clerk Certification. She is also a member of the International Institute of Municipal Clerks (IIMC), and the Government Finance Officers Association of Texas (GFOAT).
